PLM prides itself on a culture of caring and our employees’ dedication to charitable giving and volunteering to improve the lives of those around us all. Each October, PLM takes part in the United Way Employee Giving Campaign, an opportunity for our employees to give back to their local communities through donations, fundraising and charitable events. We are always proud to witness the philanthropic dedication of our team.
This year was no different, with an incredible 98 percent of PLM employees taking part in the campaign and an overall 20 percent increase in employee giving from 2018!
PLM hosted several fundraising activities to encourage employee giving, such as an ice cream social, a company cornhole tournament and a putting contest. These company competitions were a fun, exciting way for our staff to come together to support our local neighbors in need.
Throughout the month of October, PLM employees from across the country also took part in several volunteer events designed to provide resources and support for those in need. Some notable events included:
- Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia: Employees sorted and organized donated clothes for children in need.
- CROS Ministries: PLM’s Boca Raton, Florida team sorted food into boxes for delivery to six community food banks in Palm Beach County. They also hand-delivered a check.
- Fireman’s Hall Museum: Volunteers helped digitize and scan files and records at the museum.
- MANNA: Volunteers cooked and prepared meals for members of the local community battling life-threating illnesses
- Inter-Faith Housing Alliance: Staff cleaned, painted and landscaped apartments to help provide homeless families a place to stay and enjoy the holiday season.
Thanks to our incredible staff, the 2019 United Way Campaign was a phenomenal success. Not only did the vast majority of our staff participate, they raised $74,402 through donations (about $12,000 more than the previous year) for an average of $471 per employee. PLM then matched these donations, leading to a grand total of $175,131 distributed to more than 200 organizations nationally!
At every level of the organization, we believe we have a responsibility to give back and support the organizations servicing communities across the country with the resources at our disposal. Our 2019 United Way Employee Giving Campaign is representative of our company-wide culture of caring and our dedication to making a lasting, positive impact on those in need.
