About the Philadelphia Fire Department Foundation

The Philadelphia Fire Department Foundation (www.phillyfirefoundation.org) is a nonprofit created by the leadership of the Philadelphia Fire Department to raise funds to provide smoke detectors and fire safety educational programs to the citizens of Philadelphia. Despite the fact that Fire Insurance was born in Philadelphia, there are many homes that cannot afford to practice fire safety. As a company founded in the birthplace of insurance in America, PLM is committed to supporting the Philadelphia community and charitable enterprises, especially the fundraising efforts of the Foundation.

About the Smoke Detector Fundraiser

With such a large insurance presence still in the city of Philadelphia, we make it our personal commitment to help. Each year at the Insurance Society’s Independence Gala, we participate in a text-to-pledge campaign to raise money to put smoke detectors in homes across the Philadelphia area. Last year, we helped raise $45,000 to support the initiative.

This year we are asking for your support and participation to help us surpass this level and make 2018 our most successful campaign yet. We will be announcing the total pledge amount of PLM’s supporters during the ISOP Independence Gala on November 14, 2018 at the Kimmel Center for The Performing Arts, where our CEO John Smith will be honored as the recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Leadership Award.

HOW YOU CAN SHOW YOUR SUPPORT

Fundraising for Smoke Detectors Ahead of Gala

The Impact of Giving

A week before last year’s campaign, we learned of a house fire in which everyone in the home escaped uninjured because of the alarms installed through this program. Your donation will go a long way in helping to equip all homes in Philadelphia with functioning smoke detectors so that stories like this will be the rule, rather than the exception.

Join us

As business owners, we all recognize and embrace the responsibility we have to our employees and to our communities and we do everything we can in our power to keep them safe. We hope that you will join us in making a donation toward the purchase of Smoke Detectors to protect the citizens of Philadelphia.
