PLM maintains an elite sales force of Business Development Representatives that provide a wide variety of services to both insureds and producers. Our staff has expert knowledge of the insurance needs of those operating in the lumber and building materials industries, allowing us to offer tailored products and services that set us above other standard lines insurance carriers.

Each of our Business Development Representatives service their own marketing territory, allowing them to understand the specific business environment and risk exposures in their area. Our commitment to the industry affords our staff the opportunity to familiarize themselves with nearly all of the wood-related businesses in their territory. We feel strongly about maintaining relationships with our insureds and producers and we are proud of the “value-added” services that we have been providing for over 100 years.

Value-added services for both insureds and producers

  • Our BDRs inspect the premises of all prospective insureds.
  • BDRs create competitive programs tailored for each client based using industry expertise and firsthand knowledge of the account.
  • Representatives visit most insureds on an annual basis to review coverages, make recommendations, and answer any questions an insured may have.
  • BDRs meet with producers on an ongoing basis to discuss current and prospective clients. We also consistently look to create new relationships with producers across the United States.
  • Each BDR attends local industry trade shows and outings to maintain involvement and to keep current with evolvement in the lumber and building material industries.
  • Our representatives attend local producer shows and outings to familiarize the local brokerage community with the benefits of doing business with PLM through an open brokerage relationship.
